Students whose goal is a bachelor’s degree stand to benefit the most from Mott Community College’s 3+1 programs. The programs are based on articulation agreements with four-year colleges and universities and enable students to take three years at MCC and one year at a participating college or university (3+1).
“Articulation agreements include specific courses to be taken at MCC that result in a seamless transfer of credits for the student to their program of study at the university,” according to Dolores Sharpe, Executive Director of Academic Operations.
The benefits for students taking advantage of a 3 + 1 program include three years of community college tuition rates (typically about 1/3 the cost of four-year colleges) and only one year of university tuition rates to complete a bachelor’s degree; the students can stay close to home, which is especially important if a student has work or family obligations; and MCC works with its partners to ensure that the third-year courses will be a direct program transfer to the four-year program – no surprises!
MCC has 3+1 agreements with five universities in Michigan that include more than 60 degrees. They include: Cleary University, Eastern Michigan University, Ferris State University, Northwood University, and Rochester College. MCC faculty and staff work continuously to develop additional agreements with new educational partners.
The 3 + 1 agreements are for a variety of programs including:
- Technology degrees such as Computer Aided Drafting & Design, Computer Information Systems, Automotive Technology, Electronics;
- Business-related degrees in Marketing, Hospitality, Management;
- Health Care degrees in Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapist, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy; and
- Communications degrees in Graphic Design and Media Arts & Entertainment Technology.
